Rescheduled Boeing Rocket Walk on Saturday

After an unusually windy weekend forced a postponement last month, a walking tour of the Santa Susana Field Lab hosted by Boeing will take place this Saturday from 8-11 a.m.

Attendees are invited to take a self-guided walking tour through a wildlife corridor, but before that, they'll get a chance to see a display of historical rocket engine test equipment.

The site was "once home to rocket engine testing that supported virtually every major U.S. space program and launched satellites that power GPS and cell phones."

Walkers should be prepared to walk four miles on their own. At the halfway point, attendees will turnaround at the Alfa test stand, the site of Santa Susana's last rocket engine test in 2006.

There's still room for people to join in, but RSVPS are required. Event address is 25800 Woolsey Canyon Road.

People interested in attending must RSVP by Nov. 6 to (818) 466-8163 or santasusanacommunitytours@boeing.com. A confirmation email from Boeing is required to attend.

Visitors must also be U.S. citizens or have permanent resident citizen cards and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Editor's Note: The correct phone number to RSVP is 818-466-8163. Patch was initially given an incorrect number.
