Atheists don't evangelize. It is only because they are so sick of so called-Christians that need toRead More evangelize incessantly to all within earshot that this case will continue, and she will win and be reimbursed for her legal fees. Sadly, those who call themselves religious have been the perpetrators of the worst atrocities in all of history. Worse, your ignorance of the American constitution is embarrassing. Separation of church and state was to protect religion from government. Thank God for the ACLU or else the so called religious would trample all over the rights of Americans. THANK YOU William for behaving in a respectful manner. It is very sad that I have noticed several times on these boards that the Christians behave worse than anyone else in the discussion. On a previous board several Christians were swearing and using vulgar language against a Muslim man who did no such thing. The Muslim man remained respectful against some of most evil, vile attacks I have ever heard. It is BECAUSE of the likes of you that Americans need to be protected from religion.

here's an easter tip....if you or your family wants a rabbit, get it from a shelter. and keep it forRead More life. there is a great website called rabbit.org with all sorts of information about taking care of house rabbits. happy easter!

Am I the only one who has a problem with the statement that "celebrating Easter is aRead More tradition that predates Christianity"? If Easter itself is the celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus, how could the celebration "predate Christianity"? For the record, there is no word in the Bible which translates as "Easter" - nor is there any record that early Christians observed such a holiday. The word is an anglicization of the ancient name of the Pagan Goddess of fertility "Ishtar" ("Astarte" in the Greek). This goddess was venerated each year by celebrations of the fertility inherent in Spring, and symbolized with fertility icons such as eggs and rabbits. Since the central tenet of Biblical Judeo-Christianity is the repudiation of Paganism and its multiple deities - the proclamation that there is only one God - it is, at the very least, antithetical to give to the remembrance of its chief character the name of one of the deities of Paganism - wouldn't you say?

The best way to boil eggs for taste and minimal to zero cracks/fractures: 1) bring eggs to roomRead More temperature 2) bring a large pot of salted water to boil 3) when water boils, turn off heat and lower eggs into water (a hand held mesh strainer is great) 4) put tight fitting lid on pot 5) set timer for 17 minutes **a cast iron pot is great because it will hold the heat for longer

They gloss over it and don't give you the pragmatic, dig the grave numbers up front. Those are, aRead More $30 billion dollar pension fund under-funding as a result of the politicians giving your money away to public sector employees who don't "give a sh*&" about you. Now it your turn to take it back and say no. No money out of my pocket, and no real hassle, as I can use a different card until I get the replacement. No way am I going to carry around $100 all the time so I can buy gas. I do think that the credit card companies are going to get tired of the cost on *their* end from this fraud, and tighten up security. But I'm not going to change my life because of it. Just keep an eye on your account (I use Quicken so I see the charges the day after I make them).

Card using enthusaists kind of deserve to have this happen to them. By using your cards everywhereRead More you go, do you realize you are taking a large chunk of the businesses profit and choosing to give it to banks and credit card processors rather than the business itself? You, by using your cards, also force businesses to raise prices. Stop using your cards and you won't have to worry about security breaches AND you help businesses AND you help yourself by allowing businesses to lower prices.

California unemployment up .1 pct as reported today. Let them move and if the pepper supplierRead More doesn't survive so be it. Harsh yes!! Remember that this company is now under the control of the regulators of the AMQD and guess what they are a power unto themselves. CA is bleeding business. But hey, you elect who you do, you are required to suffer the consequences. So if the workers voted for the folks now in Sacramento, then they are also part of the problem. Yep, it will hurt them a lot more than the owner moving.

@Debbie, mostly assumptions. The pepper supplier the job loss is 50 minimum wage line jobs. I'dRead More also check their legal status, then you'll know if he took jobs from legal residents I'm not being crass both sides decided to arrogantly say "mine's bigger". Now that they've exposed themselves both sides want us to feel sorry for them. Let the cards fall the way they fall and then insist that the lesson be implemented for future issues. If you really want to have empathy, why don't you evaluate the overall plans of the various City governments that pick and choose the winners by tax abatements. Then have empathy for that group that is currently not part of the chosen few.

Karl has not blamed teachers and in fact he laments that Parents are ignored especially the ParentsRead More who want the besat for their kids. Over all the teachers are very much respected. As in any profession there are a few who are unworthy and we cannot sacrifice the children in order to guarantee jobs to those who do not belong in the profession. One example that comes to mind was a teacher who was a drunk and taught at a San Fernando Valley Middle School. Because he camt to work sauced every day he was removed from teaching duties while we continued to pay him. He was given one chore only, and that was to conduct the home room class in the morning. He was unable to do so and stayed at his desk swigging from a bottle. The children were scared to death of him for he was a mean drunk and threatened them. He was tenured and therefore his needs for income superceded the children'd need for safety, life and limb, education, and to get the things done that are needed in homeroom. There comes a point at which even the teachers and the principle have to admit that there are some who do not belong in the profession, and some who could be endangering the children's best interests, for after all you must admit that is what they are there for and for which you are there as well.

Unfortunately Parent skills are not taugt in the high schools of this land. Unrealistically weRead More expect humans to have a sixth sense as to how best to raise their offspring. That does not happen. Too many parents use corporal punishment in the belief that they are helping their children. Some abuse terribly there kids both verbally and physically. But we leave them to their own devices and expect them to instinctively know. In L.A. the Latino's are now in the majority with many having no English language skills, which is needed when you are going to be of help in your childrens education. So stop the self serving baloney in which you easily pass off the responsibility to those who cannot fight back- that is to say the uneducated themselves parents. If you sincerely want parental help, and I see no evidence of that, then lobby and shout for Parenting classes and adult education, for the children's sake.

We need bomb-sniffing police dogs or military dogs. We also need to make the FBI accountable forRead More their failure to follow up on Russian warnings that Tamerlan Tsarnaeyev was being radicalized. The real jihadist in the family was the Tsarnaeyev's brothers' mother. The Russians knew that but didn't send the video proving it to the FBI. Even so, they told the FBI enough that they should have been on their trail, and the FBI blew it. And why weren't they on top of the former Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan who shot to death three non-Jews in an anti-semitic attempt to kill Jews in Overland Park? Why do we allow so much surveillance of citizens when the results are so disappointing? It's not like the FBI is getting the job done. They miss a lot of really big, obvious targets.
