Northridge Job Seeker June 7, 2012 at 06:18 pm
I was at this "Job" fair, and can say that about 75% of the booths were forRead More "MLM" marketing companies that DO NOT hire anyone. These types of companies use "associates" as free labor, sure they offer you the ability to work for yourself, but what they don't tell you is that it takes about 20-60 days before your proficient enough in their products to be able get your own clients, so don't count on seeing a paycheck anytime soon. As for the remaining companies, about 20% were temp agencies that you don't need a "Job Fair" to apply too. The rest it seemed were only taking applications online (Kaiser did this, but still had the longest line even though they did NO hiring at the event, I know this because I was in that line and heard it from the rep myself). Another thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was that most of these MLM's (the ones that make you bug your family and friends), I found out through research & contacts have unsavory ties with the promoters of the event. While the assistance & services provide on Monday (June 4th) at the location were good for people would needed the help, what happened the next day (June 5th) tainted the whole event in my opinion and did not justify the hope that the job-seekers that attended the event had for it.
