Actually, it turns out that we compared notes and we met in the 1980s at a series of parties of pastRead More stars that Donald O'Connor held around his birthday for years, and came up with some photos of us talking together with my friend Marsha Hunt at those gatherings at a house in Sunland. So, thanks for re-introducing us, but turns out we knew each other back when BOTH of us lived in Studio City.

This was the nicest tribute to Gloria I've seen. You didn't put that I introduced you two at theRead More Studio, but whatever. I'll write my own tribute.

One of our family treasures. My daughter, Molly, was unimpressed, however, and did a greatRead More impersonation of his "Hah, Ahm Hoowell Howser, etc." which in turn became a special memory for me. We promise ourselves to visit at least one of his special places.

Wow, Huell is so cool. So sad to hear the tragic news, he'll be greatly missed. There will never beRead More anybody as cool as Huell. I hope KCET will keep playing reruns.

Got the pleasure of meeting Huell at a UC Davis fund raiser. He was very nice and so funny. We haveRead More a picture we took with him and also he signed a t-shirt we have framed. Almost all our trips are because of him. He helped us learn and love California. RIP Huell.

Jeanie January 8, 2013 at 12:56 am
Huell was fascinated by Santa Barbara County's Guadalupe dunes and the missing lost city of theRead More pharaohs from Cecil B. DeMille's movie The Ten Commandments. It has always been a dream that the set would be uncovered and he would return to film the recovery. A gentleman with a modest desire to educate and document, a living legend to the end........a gift of "gold" to the world!

Gloria was a kind, appreciative and strong woman. As you can see in the Republic Pictures 75thRead More Anniversary event photo I posted, Gloria always "looked the part". I'm sorry to hear about her passing.
Linda Rubin January 7, 2013 at 08:39 pm
You can see what a colorful character she was in her post-Voluptua years from the pix I just addedRead More to this article of Gloria at our Patch party in 2011. She was a fan of our sites and promoted her own story to our editors. I'm sad to say goodbye to Gloria.
Linda Rubin January 7, 2013 at 08:32 pm
I first met Gloria when she attended a Thanksgiving Feast provided by Temple Beth Hillel in ValleyRead More Village. She was dressed in Native American costume. Dan Carasso was a demonic hate driven Godless sociopath, he admired Hitler, Franco, and Limbaugh!Read More He was abusive, cruel, sadistic, inhuman, failed as a husband, and father--he made his wife Ida very unhappy, as with his three children, he was abusive, verbally, emotionally, and physically--being a miser, went into rages, harassing his daughters, for their entire adult lifes-- Rosalie and George Willard--- hated Dan--when they died in an airplane accident--Dan got their money by default---and never gave them a decent memorial---their ashes, rest in one urn in the patio-- he made sure that all were disenherited--with a paltry monthly allowance, Ida was left with five dollars in her purse---the victum of two strokes caused by toxic cough syrup, that he gave her to take- with severe brain damage, memory loss, and dementia--Where is the love here? The house became a "GOP Crack House" where the vultures would come for funds, new cars, free meals, as they knew Dan had poor judgement, and appealed to his ego.Dan spent his weekends out, lurking around, and would come home in late after cheating on Ida--Dan lived to hate,: women, democracy, jews, gays, blacks, and embraced the the muslem culture-----dan was a failure, as a husband, father, and human being,he even hated his own heritage--being jewish--- and in death goes into the black void of nothingness, where Hell keeps demonic souls, who remain in darkness, and never come back ---Thank God he is gone, karma wins

He was not a nice man to his family. I dated his daughter Camila during the late 60's and I rememberRead More the first time I called her. He grabbed the phone from her and slapped her and wanted to know how I met her. When I told him I met her at a dance, he said she was introduced to it by a left-wing Jew and even brought home a Mexican once. He once parked in a shopping center parking lot watching his daughters car that was parked there and chased us in his truck. In later years when taking to him he seemed glad to hear from me. I think he may have calmed down in his older years and was surprised how he now wants to bring Hispanics into the Republican Party. I don't think he was Jewish as his daughter told me they were at one time Catholic.

Nothing could have possibly prepared me to see a young girl cry because someone took the life of herRead More mother at only 32 years old. Dori and I only knew one another from singing karaoke together. I wish I had the opportunity to get to know her better, but I know she loved her children more than anything...as everytime I had the pleasure of seeing her, she spoke of them. I pray with everything in me that they find the monster who took her life and caused so much pain for everyone who knew her. She touched so many lives with her big heart, beautiful smile, and unique laugh. Dori I know you are still out there fighting for justice, as your family and friends will continue to do for you here on earth. You will truly be missed! Keep singing in heaven!!!
