Stanley Cup Mayors' Bets Just Got Real: The Loser Has to ... Sing?

As the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings battle for the Stanley Cup, the mayors of the teams' home cities today announced a wager in which the losing city's mayor will sing an ode to his rival's city on late night television.

If the Rangers win, Garcetti has promised to channel Frank Sinatra by singing "New York, New York," on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

But if the Kings prevail, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio must serenade the late night audience with a rendition of Randy Newman's "I Love L.A."

Garcetti has his hopes set on de Blasio singing a ditty in honor of Los Angeles.

"Looks like another perfect day -- for the Kings to take home the Stanley Cup," Garcetti said. "From the west side to the east side, the Kings will reign. Go Kings Go!"

De Blasio said he foresees the Stanley Cup being claimed by the Rangers.

"Start spreading the news. It's been over 20 years since the Stanley Cup has found its home in New York City, and we look forward to it making its way here. Let's go Rangers," said de Blasio.

The losing mayor will also treat Kimmel's audience to his hometown's signature hot dogs, with Garcetti offering Pink's and de Blasio providing Gray's Papaya.

Food is also at stake in the wager between the New York and Los Angeles police chiefs.

If the Rangers win, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck will buy New York Police Commissioner William Bratton a lunch at Langer's Deli in Los Angeles. If the Kings win, Bratton will do the buying at Katz' Deli in New York.

Bratton was police chief in Los Angeles and when he left the City of the Angels he famously said the one thing he said he would miss was the pastrami at Langer's.

"It's too bad that commissioner will not be able to enjoy one of his favorite foods," Beck said, indicating he thought the hometown team was gong to win.
