Sierra Canyon Takes the Plunge with Olympic Great Matt Biondi

Prep school begins to build a powerhouse swimming program.

Chatsworth's has hired former Olympic great Matt Biondi to coach swimming and teach math, reports Dave Krider at MaxPreps.com.

Biondi, 46, is the former principal at Stephens Middle School in Salem, Ore. He and his wife, Kirsten, currently live in Hawaii with their three children.

Biondi's trophy collection includes 11 Olympic medals, including five golds from the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

"We built a middle school program three years ago and our long-term goal is hopefully to build our own pool," Sierra Canyon athletic director Rock Pillsbury said.
