Lawrence Middle School Joins LAUSD Safety Drill

With all the students secured, the campus looked vacant.

Los Angeles schools last week. Lawrence Middle School in Chatsworth held a Thursday "Shelter in Place" exercise to prepare for any major emergency.

With all the students safely secured, the campus looked vacant.

Administrator Amie Whitely said, "The 'Shelter in Place' drill began at 2:45 p.m. and lasted approximately 15 minutes at which time administrators and emergency team members swept the campus to ensure procedures were followed. The campus was so quiet, we can say the drill was a 'success.' Everyone took this drill very seriously and we know our students will be safe in the event anything occurs. Great job to our students, faculty and staff!"
