Water Main Breaks in Northridge, Floods Street

The break is on Superior Street.

Los Angeles DWP crews were working a water main break this morning in Northridge, a Department of Water and Power spokeswoman said.

The rupture was reported at 4:16 a.m. in the 17500 block of Superior Street in Northridge, said DWP spokeswoman Carol Tucker.

It has affected 15 customers and crews have reduced the water pressure to low while they inspect the damage to the 8-inch pipe and determine what is needed to repair it, she said.

Crews are also busy working to repair a second break, this one a 6-inch pipe in the Hollywood Hills, Tucker said. Crews were inspecting the break to determine how many customers would be affected when water is shut off and what would be needed to make repairs.
