Orange Line Means Big Business All Along the Busway

The extension has already become an engine of job creation, just by getting built.

Lorena Ramirez of West Hills moved her salon to a strip mall next to the Sherman Way Orange Line station.

Even though the four-mile busway extension from Canoga Park to Chatsworth doesn't open until next weekend, her business is already up, according to the Daily News.

Anna Paula Sizemore, owner of Gamela Grill, a Brazilian restaurant between Canoga Avenue and the busway can't wait for the line to begin operating.

"We're going to put a sign in the rear of the store to make us visible to the people who are passing by on the buses, and also the people who are jogging, walking or pushing strollers on the path next to the busway."

With to 9,000 passengers a day by 2020, the new service is expected to bring lots of jobs and business to the West Valley.

"I think we're going to see dramatic impact right away," predicted Stuart Waldman, president of the Valley Industry and Commerce Association.
