No Parking Perk for Politicos at the Train Depot

Reserved parking signs are leftovers from Councilman Greig Smith's era.

Over at LA Observed, one of our favorite city websites, the politicos at City Council District 12 were slapped for having reserved parking spaces at the Chatsworth train depot.

But it turns out that it really isn't a parking perk, but a Department of Transportation oversight. When Greig Smith was councilman, he had a satellite office in the train station along with reserved spaces.

But when he left the City Council the depot office was closed and the DOT just never got around to removing the signs.

LA Observed Editor Kevin Roderick writes that District 12 spokesman Matt Meyerhoff says the parking spaces aren't any kind of benefit for the staff: "We have no use for them."

Looks like there'll be a couple of extra public parking spaces this morning.
