Maximum-Security Inmate Moves to Local Facility Today [VIDEO]

Supervisor Antonovich calls him a violent sex predator and an arsonist.

County Mayor Michael Antonovich is sending a blast in a letter to Governor Jerry Brown to close what he calls  a loophole in a new prison reform law known as "realignment." The law requires that non-violent prison inmates be moved from state prisons to county jails to alleviate overcrowding.

But, Antonovich tells KABC7's Miriam Hernandez that decisions are made based upon the most recent offense, not more violent previous offenses.

Antonovich represents Chatsworth as part of County District 5.

He described the inmate, who has been housed at the maximum-security Folsom and Atascadero prisons and is scheduled to be moved today to a Sylmar medical facility, this way:

He is "a violent sex predator, convicted of rape with violence, with assault, also with attempted rape another time, and having arson in his background."
