Learn About Cleanup Plans for Chatsworth Park South at Tuesday Meeting

The public comment period for the draft plan will runs until April 22.

There will be a community meeting, Tuesday, April 2, to answer questions about the cleanup plans for Chatsworth Park South.

The Draft Removal Action Plan (RAP) for the park was released on March 21 adressing the contamination issues. The park was closed in 2008 when lead pellets and other contaminants were discovered at the site that was used as a skeet shooting range in the 1960s. The city purchased the property and turned it into a public park in 1978.

Documents on this issue are available here. A PDF of the draft plan can also be found in the adjacent photo box.

The purpose of the RAP is to identify potential risks from conditions related to past shooting range operations and evaluate and describe the proposed mitigation plans for Chatsworth Park South. The public comment period for the draft RAP runs until April 22. Send comments to Zenzi Poindexter, public participation specialist at (818) 717-6568 or zenzi.poindexter@dtsc.ca.gov

The public meeting will be held on April 2 so that the community may ask questions, learn more about the draft RAP and provide comments.
