Job Fair Today for Military Veterans

Nine major Los Angeles County employers and two of Los Angeles local community colleges will be recruiting.

WHAT:

The Los Angeles County Metropolitian Transportation Authority (Metro) will conduct a job fair for military veterans. The job fair is designed to assist recent returning service members and other military veterans by providing job opportunties with nine major Los Angeles County employers and two of Los Angeles local community colleges. The general public is welcomed to attend.

Background

Metro is coordinating this job fair effort with veteran’s groups throughout Los Angeles County.  According to the United States Department of Labor, veterans who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001 are experiencing a 12.1 percent unemployment rate with young male vets under the age of 25 suffering the worst with 29.1 percent unemployment rate. The Metro job fair will also offer workshops on resume writing. Computer termainals will be available on-site for applicants to apply directly for jobs with participating employers. In additon, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) will be conducting on-site pre-employment tests for LAPD positions.
