EmpowerLA Certifies List of Candidates for Northwest Neighborhood Council Elections

Most elections in the region will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8.

EmpowerLA has certified the list of Neighborhood Council in Region 2, the Northwest Valley. Most of the elections will be held Sept. 8 in Northridge, Porter Ranch, Granada Hills and North Hills. Elections in the Northeast Valley have already taken place.

Each Neighborhood Council's bylaws determine the number of seats on the executive board, and how those seats are configured. Some seats are assigned to representatives of specialty interests, others might be at-large.

All of these councils will be having traditional secret-ballot elections except for the Northridge South Neighborhood Council which will have a Sept. 6 Town Hall where the board members will be selected by a show of hands.

EmpowerLA, formerly known as the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment, or DONE, is supervising a for 95 Neighborhood Councils citywide.
