Elder Care Site Town Hall on June 4

A town hall focusing on a proposed elder care facility in Northridge is being held June 4, more than two weeks before a local homeowners association will try to appeal the approval of the project before a city commission.

The Sherwood Forest Homeowners Association is organizing the meeting, which is being held at the auditorium of Northridge Middle School at 6:30 p.m.

The neighborhood group opposes the construction of 65,797-square-foot elder care facility at 17531-17545 Parthenia St., despite the development winning support from the city's north valley planning commission.

The association filed an appeal earlier this month, even after the development's scope was reduced, claiming that it's too big for the neighborhood. The hearing date for that appeal is June 20.

Tom Bramson, the group's president, said the June 4 meeting's goal is to update fellow neighbors about the status of the proposed development.

L.A. City Councilman Mitch Englander will be in attendance at the town hall.
