Antonovich Faces Challenger in June 5 Primary

Raj Pal Kahlon filed to run against supervisor who was first elected in 1980.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, whose District 5 includes Chatsworth, will face an opponent on the June 5 primary ballot.

Supervisors Don Knabe and Mark Ridley-Thomas did not draw any opponents  as the filing period for most county offices on the June 5 primary ballot ended Friday.

Raj Pal Kahlon filed to run against Antonovich, who was first elected in 1980, according to information provided by the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk.

No supervisor has been defeated for re-election since 1980, when Antonovich defeated Baxter Ward and Deane Dana defeated Yvonne Brathwaite Burke.

City Attorney Carmen Trutanich and five deputy district attorneys have filed to succeed the retiring Steve Cooley as district attorney. Because Cooley is not seeking re-election, the filing deadline will be extended to Wednesday.

Deputy District Attorneys John L. Breault III, Bobby Grace, Alan Jackson, Jackie Lacey and Danette Meyers have completed the filing process for district attorney.
