Officers also arrested a married couple, both on probation for molesting their own children, who had their home fully decorated for Halloween, and were in possession of drugs and child pornography.

The sweep included probation and post-community supervision searches to make sure that sex offenders were residing in their legal residences, that these homes had the front porch lights turned off, blinds and curtains down, no Halloween decorations and were not “inviting to children.”

ANTONOVICH LIGHTS THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
CHRISTMAS TREE AT THE MUSIC CENTER

The public was invited to join Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich to officially kick off the holiday season in Los Angeles County with the annual lighting of the County Christmas Tree– continuing a special tradition begun by late Supervisor Kenneth Hahn in honor of the County’s children.

Supervisor Antonovich was joined by talented young performers from the Providence High School Choir in Burbank, to help flip the switch to light the 50-foot tree.

“As we light the County Christmas tree, we invite all of our County’s citizens to join us and reflect on the glory of the season and share in the celebration,” said Antonovich.

The tradition of lighting a Christmas tree in the United States began over a hundred years ago.  In 1923, President Calvin Coolidge started the National Christmas Tree lighting Ceremony, every year on the White House lawn.
