Woman Pleads 'Not Guilty' in Hit-and-Run Death

Chatsworth High senior German Alex Romero was hit and killed in April.

A 23-year-old woman pleaded not guilty Friday to charges stemming from an alleged hit-and-run crash that killed a 17-year-old Chatsworth High School senior who was riding a bicycle in Canoga Park.

Dominique Marie Rush remains jailed on $100,000 bail while awaiting her next appearance Oct. 7 in Van Nuys Superior Court on one felony count each of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

German Alex Romero was riding a bicycle on DeSoto Avenue just north of Valerio Street in the far right lane about 9 p.m. April 20 when he was struck by a 2003 Toyota Corolla allegedly driven by Rush.

Rush's father, Steven, 44, is accused of helping his daughter to try to conceal the crime. He was arrested Aug. 10 at his Porter Ranch home and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on two felony counts of being an accessory after the fact.
