Vehicle Burglaries Spike, Says Devonshire Division

There's been a recent uptick in car burglaries in the Northridge and Granada Hills areas, according to the local branch of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The increase is reportedly centralized between Zelzah Avenue to the 405 freeway and Rinaldi Street south to Lassen Street, according to a statement from Devonshire Division.

Some notable incidents include:

  • 15900 Block of Devonshire St. A Tailgate was stolen.
  • 17700 block of Merridy St.- Dash gauges, rear seat, a laptop and tools were stolen.
  • 10900 block of Woodley Ave. Bed liner was snatched.
  • 16300 Tuba St.- Vehicle hood, tailgate, side mirrors, sub woofers, amps and vehicle stereo were stolen.

Police recommend parking vehicles in garages when possible or at least backing your vehicle close to the garage door.

"This will make it more difficult for thieves to take your rear seats and tail gates," the statement read. "Always remember to take your valuables out of your vehicle when you park it."
