Police today detained one of two burglary suspects who led officers on a brief chase in a van in the Granada Hills area.
The 60-second chase led to the 10400 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue, where the vehicle crashed and the men got out and ran off around 7:45 a.m., the Los Angeles Police Department reported.
The officers had been flagged down by a person who reported a break-in at an Orchard Supply Hardware store in a shopping center at Chatsworth Street and Zelzah Avenue.
Officers established a perimeter and quickly detained one of the men, who appeared to be suffering from a possible medical problem, leading them to summon paramedics, police said.
The second man remained at large late this afternoon, said Richard French of the LAPD's Media Relations Section.
The name of the suspect who was in custody was not immediately available.
