UPDATE: Murder Charge in Hammer Slaying of Father

Jun Hyuk Chang was ordered held on $1 million bail.

A Chatsworth man was charged Tuesday with murder for allegedly beating his 78-year-old father to death with a hammer.

, 45, was ordered held on $1 million bail pending arraignment April 11 in San Fernando Superior Court.

Chang called 911 around noon Sunday and allegedly told officers who went to his home in the 21300 block of Candice Place that he had killed his father with a hammer.

, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his son was taken into custody without incident around 1 p.m., according to Los Angeles police.

If convicted, he faces up to life in prison, according to the District Attorney's Office.
