Still No Answers in Northridge Man's Death

The family of Paul Albert Helfen, who was killed two months ago in a hit-and-run crash, is still searching for justice.

With an investigation into the hit-and-run death of a Northridge man still ongoing, family members and friends gathered in San Pedro to scatter his ashes at sea, according to reports.  

Paul Albert Helfen, 76, of Northridge, was riding his bicycle eastbound on Nordhoff Street approaching Woodley Avenue when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, a Nissan Sentra from the 2007 to 2012 model years, also traveling eastbound on June 22, according to LAPD Valley Traffic.

The impact ejected Helfen, causing him to hit the roadway and a planter box in a parking lot. He suffered severe injuries and was .

"It makes me so angry that that person is out there, and I'm thinking that they have gotten away with it," Nydia Jackson, Helfen's partner, told the LA Daily News.

The City Council issued a $50,000 award for information in the days after the accident.
