Overall Crime High, But Violent Crime Drops, Data Show

Crime in Chatsworth remains abnormally high with 51 incidents from July 25 through Aug. 15, according to reports.

That is an increase of nine crimes over the previous 21 days (July 3-24) and nearly as chart-topping as June 12 through July 2, when Chatsworth experienced 54 crimes, the highest level recorded since Chatsworth Patch began publishing nearly a year ago.

There was a reported average of 2.4 crimes per day during the most recent cycle, an increase of .4 crimes per day over the previous reporting period.

And while Chatsworth made national headlines with an ongoing case involving a in the 20400 block of Lassen Street, violent crime actually dropped to the lowest level of the summer with only three reported instances: two robberies and the double homicide.

As usual, the most prevalent crimes in Chatsworth were theft and theft from vehicles, with the pair making up more than 60 percent of total crime.  

Crime stats: 16 thefts from vehicles, 15 thefts, 13 burglaries, four grand thefts auto, two robberies and one double homicide.
