UPDATE: Shooting Victim an Apparent Suicide

Man found in pickup truck on Topanga Canyon Boulevard appears to have died of self-inflicted gunshot wound, police say. Location is near the 118 Freeway and a mobile home park in Chatsworth.

UPDATE, 4:45 P.M.: An apparent suicide victim was found today in a pickup truck in the Chatsworth area, according to police.

Officers were sent to the 11400 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard shortly before noon, said Officer Norma Eisenman, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman.

"It appears it was a suicide,'' she said, adding that the individual died of a gunshot wound.

INITIAL POST 12:44 P.M.: An apparent gunshot victim was found Monday in a pickup truck in Chatsworth, according to Los Angeles police.

Officers were sent to the 11400 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard shortly before noon, said Officer Norma Eisenman, a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman. The location is near the entrance and exit ramps of the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway and a mobile home park.

The condition of the person was not immediately known, nor was it clear whether the individual was the victim of foul play.
