Red Flag Warning Posted for Southland

Low humidity and winds combine to increase the risk of wildfire.

Offshore winds and low humidity will combine to significantly increase the risk of wildfire Thursday night and Friday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning beginning at 10 p.m.

The red flag warning will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Friday in the Santa Clarita Valley, Los Angeles County mountains, the Angeles National Forest and the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area.

"Light offshore winds have developed across much of Los Angeles and Ventura counties today, bringing a warming and drying trend," according to an NWS advisory. "... Offshore winds are expected to be a bit stronger overnight into Friday, with widespread single-digit humidities."
