Smith was released at 8:05 p.m. Jan. 14, according to the sheriff's department's Inmate Information Center website.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Van Nuys Superior Court, according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Smith was described in broadcast reports as a close friend and house guest of Bieber.

About a dozen sheriff's investigators were involved in the search at Bieber's Calabasas home in connection with allegations that Bieber threw eggs at a neighbor's residence, which had an estimated $20,000 in damage.
