Police Scanner: Cops Busy All Over the Valley

Reports of shots fired, assault with a deadly weapon, and child abuse are among the many calls police are covering.

Weekends always tend to be the busiest nights of the week for police calls. This weekend started off with many calls for officers all over the San Fernando Valley. Here are the raw data of reports while we've been monitoring.

January 14, 2011

6:14 p.m.
10100 block of Riverside Dr., Toluca Lake
Citizen call; a report of child abuse.

6:16 p.m.
6300 block of Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood
Report of "child alone" inside McDonald's. Subject is a male, black, 10-13 years old, wearing a brown sweater and black pants. Person reporting says the child is asking customers to buy him food, and he appears to be alone (he is seen without a parent or guardian). Police unit responds to the dispatcher, advising that the child may be the one they have been looking for, regarding a missing person report earlier in the day.

6:50 p.m.
White Oak Ave. and Roscoe Blvd., Northridge
Report of assault with a deadly weapon at a nearby cellphone store. Suspect is male, Hispanic, in his 20's, wearing a black baseball cap, black and green checkered flannel shirt, long pants of unknown color. He is armed with a black handgun. Suspect was last seen on foot heading northbound on White Oak Avenue towards Roscoe Boulevard. A possible suspect vehicle is a gray Chevy Suburban or Tahoe.

8:34 p.m.
Whipple St. and Vineland Ave., North Hollywood
Report of street fighting. Suspects are described as 2 white males.

8:41 p.m.
12000 Runnymede St., North Hollywood
Report of battery / domestic violence. Suspect is male, Hispanic, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

8:40 p.m.
Willis and Burbank, Van Nuys
Report of a structure fire. Fire department responds and it is extinguished immediately.

8:53 p.m.
Topanga Canyon Blvd. And Oxnard St., Woodland Hills
Report of fighting. Suspects are 10 male and female teenagers fist-fighting in front of the Macy's.

9:00 p.m.
Yolanda Ave. and Oxnard St., Tarzana
Report of a suspect shooting at customers inside a store, from the street outside. The suspect's vehicle is a black Chevy Blazer or Ford Bronco with tinted back windows, unknown plates,. The vehicle was last seen exiting the parking lot onto Yolanda Avenue.

9:15 p.m.
1600 block of Topanga Canyon, Topanga Canyon
Report of grand theft auto, 1987 Buick Regal. Stolen car was described as having tinted windows and custom wheels.

9:20 p.m.
Gazette and Enadia Way, Canoga Park
Report of armed robbery. Suspects are described as:

Suspect #1 is a male, Hispanic, "black over black" (dark hair color / dark eye color), 5'8", 145 lbs., 18-19 years old, wearing burgundy "hoodie" (hooded sweat jacket), white t-shirt and blue jeans.

Suspect #2 is a male, Hispanic, "black over black" (dark hair color / dark eye color), 5'8", 180 lbs., 18-19 years old, possible mustache, wearing a black "hoodie" (hooded sweat jacket), white t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

Suspect vehicle is described as a white "work-style" van with no windows in the rear door, last seen fleeing eastbound on Enadia Way.

Weapon used was bodily force. Property taken was an iPhone 3gs, wallet, California driver license and $4 cash.

10:48 p.m.
Cumpston St. and Fair Ave., Toluca Terrace
Report of residential burglary. 3 possible suspects described as:

Suspect #1 is a male, black, 5'11", 160 lbs., 16-18 years of age, wearing a "black hoodie" and blue jeans, carrying a skateboard.

2 additional suspects are described as black males carrying skateboards, but no further description.
Property taken was DVD and a possible knife.

11:00 p.m.
Northbound on Winnetka, Winnetka
A police unit has spotted a possible suspect vehicle involved in a shooting the night before. The car is described a a black Dodge Charger with 20" rims. The unit is advised to "keep a visual on the vehicle." The suspect car has now turned onto Parthenia Street and has passed Corbin Avenue.

11:10 p.m.
Eastbound Parthenia St. and Wilbur Ave.
More police units have joined in the chase of the suspect vehicle.

11:15 p.m.
Eastbound Parthenia St. and Lindley Ave.,
Suspect vehicle is reported to be traveling in the #1 lane with 3 police cars in pursuit.

11:23 p.m.
Eastbound Parthenia St. and Balboa Ave.; North Hills
4 to 5 police cars have stopped the suspect vehicle on Parthenia Street just before the intersection. Several other units have arrived to help control traffic. A "code 4" advisory (no additional units needed on scene) is broadcast. The suspect is now in custody.

11:30 p.m.
Parthenia St. and Independence Ave., Box Canyon
Report of a "Department of Motor Vehicles Suspect" (a person who is "wanted" by authorities, according to a DMV records check) in the vicinity of Devonshire division. The suspect is described as a male, Hispanic, dark hair, wearing a black jacket, black pants, and white shoes with black stripes. The suspect was last seen heading northbound on Independence Avenue.

11:33 p.m.
Oxnard St. and Reseda Bl., Reseda
A police air unit spots a possible suspect running in the streets from "the location" (this could be a reference to the place where police were executing a "tactical" procedure, such as serving arrest warrants.). He is described as a man wearing a black shirt and black shorts. The suspect is seen running northbound on Reseda Boulevard, on the west side of the street. The air unit keeps the suspect in sight, instructing the ground units where they can detain him.
