Assault
On Sept. 11, police were again called to the 8400 block of Hatillo Avenue to take a report from a woman who believed she had been drugged and then sexually assaulted by a male friend. The investigation is ongoing.
Burglary
Also on Sept. 11, police were called to the 10200 block of Independence Avenue after a homeowner heard footsteps inside of her residence at approximately 4 a.m. Instead of calling the authorities, the resident text-messaged a friend, who in turn made the call to officers. After arriving at the scene, the police determined that the prowler had entered the residence through a balcony, stole a laptop computer, and then fled the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
Fire
On Sept. 13, officers assisted location securing and traffic control while the LAFD contained a brush fire on Tampa Avenue at Sesnon Street. No homes were damaged.
Shots Fired
On Sept. 14, police took a report from a man who had been assaulted by a group of three Hispanics whom he had met at a local bar. After the quartet left the bar under the pretense of going to meet women at a nearby park, the assailants pulled a gun on the victim and fired shots before fleeing on foot. The victim's only injury was a scratch on his cheek.
