Police: Catalytic Converter Thefts Increase in West S.F. Valley

Parts belonging to Honda Accords and Acura TL models are especially desirable.

Catalytic converter thefts are up in the western San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles police said today.

Honda Accords made between 1998 and 2004 and Acura TL models appear to be the preferred targets, with thieves jacking up the cars and using a cutting tool to remove the  pollution control devices from the exhaust lines, police said.

Police suggested alarming vehicles, parking in secured areas or etching a serial number on the catalytic converter.
