McInerney to Get 21-Year Sentence in Gay Youth's Killing Under Plea Deal

Murder trial was held for nine weeks in the Chatsworth Courthouse before the jury failed to reach a verdict.

"Nearly four years after Brandon McInerney fatally shot Larry King in an Oxnard schoolroom, the case reached its conclusion Monday with a plea deal in which McInerney will serve nearly 25 years behind bars."

Zeke Barlow, Cheri Carlson and Raul Hernandez report the latest chapter in the criminal case that was tried for nine weeks in the Chatsworth Courthouse before a mistrial was declared. According to the deal, when he is sentenced on Dec. 19, McInerney will be sentenced to 21 years, and will not get credit for the nearly four years he already has served or be eligible for parole.
