To increase community awareness of Fire Department services, the Los Angeles Fire Department designates the second Saturday of each May as Fire Service Recognition Day. This year, we highlight the fact that:

"Fire Burns. Smoke Kills."

Station 87, which serves Northridge, participated, with hands-only CPR demonstrations, information about smoke alarms and giveaways and tours of the firehouse.
