UPDATED: Officer Injured When Suspect Shoots at Squad Car

The LAPD officer suffered an arm injury. It's not clear whether he was shot or wounded by shrapnel.

A Los Angeles police officer was wounded today during a shooting in the Reseda area and a suspect was taken into custody.

Officers went to the 7100 block of Yolanda Avenue about 9:40 a.m. on a report of an assault with shots fired, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD Cmdr. Andy Smith said a shooting occurred when officers arrived, but it was unclear what prompted the gunfire and if any suspects were wounded. Smith said one person was taken into custody and an officer suffered an unspecified injury.

Reports from the scene indicated the officer suffered an arm injury and was conscious, but it was unclear if the officer was shot or injured by shrapnel.
