Number of Thefts From Cars Doubles
Lassen Street still suffers from the most crime incidents.
During the 19 days from April 3 through April 21, there were 37 crimes in the Chatsworth area, an average of approximately two crimes a day. Of the 37 crimes, only two were violent. The remaining 35 were made up of thefts, burglaries, thefts from cars and grand thefts auto.
Eight of the crimes, (29.6%) occurred during nighttime hours, while the remaining 29 occurred during daylight hours. Of these daylight hours’ crimes, 9 (26.1%) occurred during regular business hours.
Violent crime made up just 7.4% of all crime while the top crime for this period, theft from vehicles, made up almost 50%.

The total breakdown of crime for this time period is: 16 thefts from vehicles, 9 burglaries, 6 thefts, 4 grand thefts auto, 1 aggravated assault and 1 robbery.
Most crime in Chatsworth has remained stagnant. However, the rate of theft from vehicles nearly doubled between our last report and now.

And while the crimes themselves may have remained consistent, the hot spots for crime in Chatsworth have varied. During our last reporting cycle crime was focused primarily on . The last 19 days have seen crime spread out with only Lassen Street remaining a focal point.
Lassen Street again led the pack with five reported crimes, averaging about one crime every four days and making up 19% of total crime in Chatsworth. Following behind were Devonshire Street, Independence Avenue, Eton Avenue, Vintage Street which each reported three crimes, or about one crime every six days and 13% of Chatsworth crime, respectively.
Reported crime in the Chatsworth area is low and the commonly reported crimes are easy to protect against by locking car doors, garages and homes, and hiding valuables from plain view.
