A 6-inch water line broke today in Northridge, temporarily disrupting service to 10 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers and a fire hydrant, a utility spokeswoman said.
The broken water pipe outside 19218 Schoenborn St. was reported at 12:15 p.m., Jane Galbraith of the DWP said.
"It was a 6-inch pipe that broke and disrupted service to 10 customers and one fire hydrant," Galbraith said. "The pipe probably broke because of age and our repair crew is on scene working to fix it."
Galbraith said she expected repairs to be complete by 5 p.m.
The flooding caused minor damage to the street, she said.
