Northridge Man Killed in Freeway Crash
The single-vehicle crash occurred on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Mission Hills early Saturday morning.

A 25-year-old Northridge man was killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Mission Hills, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 2:47 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway at Sepulveda Boulevard where the man's 2006 Acura RSX slammed into a pole, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.

According to the CHP's preliminary accident report, the victim—whose name was not released—was heading westbound on the 118 Freeway approaching Sepulveda Boulevard in the number 4 lane. The driver lost control of his car, it veered into the guardrail and then into a concrete pole.
The victim was extricated from his car by firefighters, but he died at the scene, Kimball said.

The crash closed one westbound lane of the freeway as well as the transition roads from the north- and southbound San Diego (405) Freeway, according to the CHP. A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 3:17 a.m.
The road was cleared and the SigAlert cancelled at 6:40 a.m., according to CHP Officer Monica Posada.
The crash remained under investigation.
