Northridge Gunman Was Just Toying Around
LAPD responded to report that someone was firing an assault rifle at passersby.
A report that a suspect was firing an assault rifle at passersby in the Northridge area Monday afternoon turned out to be someone toying around.
Police were called to a home at Nordhoff Street and Encino Avenue at 4:44 p.m. on the report, said Officer Venus Hall of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.
But when the police arrived to investigate, they discovered that no one had been hit and the suspected assault rifle actually was a toy, Hall said.
