Newly Released Manson Tapes Being Reviewed by L.A. Detectives

LAPD detectives have started to review a series of audio tapes connected to the infamous Manson family that were finally released following a judge's order in March, NBC4 reports.

The eight tapes contain 20 hours of conversations between Charles "Tex" Watson, Charles Manson's right-hand man, that could potentially contain information leading to unknown decades-old crimes.

U.S. District Judge Richard A. Schell ruled March 24 that the LAPD can have access to the recordings because Watson's attorney-client privilege was waived when he tried to sell the tapes to an author, according to NBC4.

Watson's attorney, Bill Boyd, died in 2009.

The Manson killing spree in the late 1960s resulted in the death of actress Sharon Tate and six others.

Manson and his followers lived in the Spahn Ranch in Chatsworth.
