A motorist crashed into a power pole Friday in Northridge, damaging it and sending power lines arcing, a city fire official said.
The crash was reported at 5:22 p.m. in the 17000 block of Plummer Street, Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
The single vehicle hit the power pole, and the motorist initially was trapped in the wreckage, Scott said.
The person was freed from the vehicle and hospitalized in unknown condition, Scott said.
No utility customers lost power as a result of the crash, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
