VIDEO: Manson Family's Tex Watson Battles LAPD Over Tapes

He says release of the recordings "could be hurtful to the families of the victims."

LAPD investigators are supposed to get their hands on eight hours of confessional tapes made by Charles Manson's right-hand man, Charles "Tex" Watson on Thursday. But maybe not.

KNBC4 reports that Watson, who made his home with the other members of the Manson Family at the during their murderous reign of terror in 1998, is fighting the of the tapes. From prison, Watson writes that the media could get access to the tapes and "that could be hurtful to the families of the victims."

Meanwhile, the LAPD wants posession of the tapes to learn if there were .
