The identity of a man found dead of an apparent self- inflicted gunshot wound at his Chatsworth residence following a standoff with police was released today.

The man was identified as 40-year-old Lance Deniz, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.

Officers went to the 9700 block of Kentland Avenue about 8 a.m. Wednesday on a report of a domestic dispute, Los Angeles police Officer Wendy Reyes said.

People inside the residence got out safely, and a SWAT team was sent to the scene, Reyes said.

During the standoff, a gunshot was heard from inside the home and the man was later found dead in the garage of a suspected self-inflicted wound, police said.
