Man Killed by Metrolink Train in Northridge

Victim lay down on the tracks, police say.

A man who lay down on the railroad tracks in Northridge Thursday was struck and killed by a Metrolink passenger train.

It was an apparent suicide, Andrew Chick of the LAPD Valley Traffic Division told the Daily Sundial, after reviewing video of the accident near Nordhoff Street and Tampa Avenue.

The victim, who appeared to be about 20, was on the tracks under the Nordhoff bridge when he was struck at 4:45 p.m., Mike Zabowski, of the Valley Traffic Division, told the newspaper.

“It takes a couple miles or more to stop a train,” Zabowski said. “They did see him and try to stop and warn him with horns.”

Metrolink passengers were taken by bus from the scene, Zabowski told the Sundial.

Nurse Bitter- what's wrong with you? Why would you post a message like that after such a tragedy takes place? There is nothing funny about such hopelessness in a 20 year old or anyone else for that matter. I hope no one you love, including yourself, is ever involved in an accident similar to this. You know,- karma is a very strange force.
