LAPD Sets Up Topanga Canyon Sobriety Checkpoint

The Chatsworth inspection operated between 8 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday.

There will be a sobriety and drivers license checkpoint tonight on Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Devonshire and Chatsworth streets, according to the police.

The checkpoint will operate between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Saturday.

"Officers will be checking drivers through the checkpoint for signs of alcohol and or drug impairments," the LAPD said in a statement.

"If officers suspect that a driver has been drinking or is impaired, they will conduct a field sobriety test. Those who fail, should expect jail, vehicle storage fees, license suspension, insurance rate increases, along with fines, fees, driving under the influence classes, other expenses that can exceed $10,000," they said.
