LAPD Asks Public to Help Find Hit-and-Run Driver

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a light gray or sliver 2003 Toyota 4-door Corolla which was involved in the hit-and-run collision which killed 17-year-old Chatsworth soccer star German Alex Romero.

The license plate was 5FCA061.

Romero and a friend, also 17, were riding bicycles northbound on De Soto Avenue near Valerio Street in Canoga Park at about 9 p.m. on April 20 when the Toyota hit him, said Los Angeles police Officer James Whang of the Valley Traffic division. Romero was pronounced dead at the scene.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Valley Traffic Detective Krajchir,  at 818-644-8034.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.  Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
