The next parole hearing for the nortorious will be April 11 and a new photo has been released.
Manson, who lived with his "Manson Family" on Chatsworth's Spahn Ranch, has been denied parole 11 times.
He was initially sentenced to death for the 1969 slayings of actress Sharon Tate and six others by his "Family" in what was an attempt to incite a race war. His death sentence was changed to life in prison after California's death penalty was overturned in the 1970s.
The photo was released at the request of CNN. "He looks a lot different," department of corrections spokeswoman Terry Thornton told the news network.
