Firefighters Douse Small Fire at Northridge Hospital

The blaze occurred in an area under construction in the imaging department of Northridge Hospital Medical Center.

A small fire was quickly extinguished today in an area under construction in the imaging department of Northridge Hospital Medical Center.

Firefighters notified of the fire about 10:15 a.m. at the facility in the 18300 block of Roscoe Boulevard learned that the flames were extinguished by someone using a hand-held fire extinguisher, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The cause of the fire, which apparently involved some construction materials, was under investigation, Humphrey said.

Medical center spokeswoman Lysa Barry said several staff members and workers were examined at the scene for possible smoke inhalation, but "there are no injuries reported."
