Expect Another Obamajam on Wednesday as President Comes to Town

The President is making another fundraising visit to Los Angeles.

President Barack Obama will make another fundraising swing to Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon, and traffic can be expected to be affected in Beverly Hills, Westwood and possibly other areas of the Westside.

The president is scheduled attend a fundraiser at The Regent Beverly Wilshire hotel Wednesday evening.

Although the White House and Secret Service never confirm motorcade routes, in recent months the president has helicoptered from LAX to the Veterans Administration Hospital grounds at Westwood, and then used Sunset Boulevard east over the San Diego (405) Freeway and across Westwood, Holmby Hills and Beverly Hills.

The White House has been using rolling street closures in Los Angeles, and presidential motorcades in some recent visits to L.A. have been reported to be observing red lights. A presidential visit in 2011 to Hancock Park created road closures that lead to a monumental traffic jam.

The President's overnight plans and departure time have not been released. On his last trip, Obama stopped at a park in Cheviot Hills to play basketball on the morning after a fundraiser here.

The airspace over western Los Angeles County typically is closed during presidential visits, virtually shutting down Santa Monica Airport and grounding news and traffic aircraft.
