Doris Ziedenweber Found in a Freezer, Her Autopsy Report Is Finally Released

LAPD ordered the details held confidential for more than seven months, the coroner says.

After more than seven months, the county coroner has released the autopsy report for a woman found in a freezer at a ramshackle Chatsworth cottage.

Police had ordered the report "deferred" and held confidential, Craig R. Harvey, chief coroner investigator, told Patch numerous times over the months.

Doris Ziedenweber, known to her friends as Dori, died of "multiple drug intoxication and other undetermined factors," according to the report by Coroner Harvey. He did not indicate to Patch the kinds of drugs or speculate on how she ended up in the freezer.

However, she was found on one of the hottest days of the season.

Ziedenweber, 32, the mother of two, was found dead at about 6:45 p.m., Aug. 16, 2012, by a roommate in a rented bungalow in the 10800 block of Old Santa Susana Pass Road, Elissa Fleak of the coroner's office said in August. Police said at the time that the victim had defensive wounds on her body, but would not elaborate.

"We've talked to numerous individuals. We've gained a lot of physical evidence. And we've concluded that this is a homicide investigation," LAPD Devonshire Division Captain Kris Pitcher told reporters in August.

Detectives at the LAPD Devonshire Division were not available for comment late Tuesday.

A 70-year-old man, described as her roommate of two weeks, was taken into custody and later released.
