Confrontation Sends Officer, Suspect to the Hospital

Dispute begins near bar and moves down Devonshire Street.

Police scrambled to Devonshire Street near Chatsworth's Ralphs market Monday evening in response to a confrontation that sent an officer and a suspect to the hospital.

Trouble began as a man challenged and hassled people near the Candy Cat bar, an officer said at the scene. The man, who police say may have been inebriated, moved east down Devonshire Street and was stopped by an LAPD officer, at which point the dispute became physical, the officer said.

At least six patrol cars converged on the scene. Devonshire Street was closed for several hours from Canoga Avenue to the railroad tracks west of the supermarket parking lot.
