Chatsworth Crime Rises With the Heat
A homicide and 8 aggravated assaults mean that Chatsworth's violent crime rate has quadrupled.
It's getting hot out there.
Five arrests for aggravated assault on June 28 stoked violent crime in Chatsworth by 16.6% of total crime, compared to 3.9% for the previous reporting period.
During the 21 days from June 12 through July 2 there were 54 crimes reported in Chatsworth.

From May 26 through June 11 there was only one report of violent crime. However, during the more recent period there were nine violent crimes. One of these violent crimes was a homicide while the other eight were aggravated assaults.
While violent crime increased drastically, Chatsworth is still a very safe neighborhood. The top crimes were, in order: theft from vehicles, burglaries, thefts, aggravated assaults, grand thefts auto and homicide.

There were 20 thefts from vehicles, making up 37% of total crime, 11 burglaries up 20.3% of total crime, nine thefts making up 16.6% of total crime, eight aggravated assaults making up 14.8% of total crime, 5 grand thefts auto making up 9.2% of total crime and one homicide making up .54% of total crime.
