A 22-year-old Canoga Park man was killed today when he crashed a Ford Expedition on a curving road in a trailer park near Chatsworth, causing the SUV to plunge 30 feet down an embankment, authorities said.

The driver, identified as Angel Gustavo Mendez, was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene of the 3:30 a.m. crash at 24425 Woolsey Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Mendez was not using a safety restraint, the CHP reported.

After he was ejected from the SUV, the vehicle crashed into a motor home and utility trailer that were parked in a storage area, according to the CHP.

The crashed vehicle and victim weren't discovered until 9:29 a.m., the CHP reported.

The CHP investigated the crash because it happened just west of the Los Angeles city limit.
